The Peola Valley Store featured the work of Pam and Lee Ferber.   Lee & Pam have moved to Springfield, MO to be closer to their family.   We will miss them terribly here on Black River! They have launched a new website and you may still purchase their wonderful pottery online at the above link.
Hadley's New Stoneage Jewelry and Sawmill - For those of you looking for something totally unique, check out the lapidary work of Mark and Rita Hadley.  Their creations are fashioned from Missouri Dreamstone.  There is only one known source of Dreamstone which is found only among the precambrian knobs in the St. Francis mountain uplifts of the eastern Ozarks.  "This stone was in my backyard. I walked over it for 31 years.
I had no idea it was there until I saw myself digging rocks there in a dream. I discovered it the next morning, in January 1998." Mark Hadley
Black River Ice Cream Parlor  - Visit our old time ice cream parlor when you're here.  It's located next to the Post Office in the heart of downtown Lesterville!  They have ice cream cones, sundaes, malts, shakes, floats, and many flavors to choose from!  They're also serving delicious food since they expanded last year.  If you love historic photos and genealogy, talk to Donna Foster, she has tons of old photos and is the resident expert about our area history.
Plus, she's just the nicest person you'll ever meet!  Meeting Donna is reason enough to stop in.

Wilderness Lodge   - Wilderness Lodge was built in 1927 by a wealthy sportsman as a private residence. The majority of the cabins were built in the 1970's, when the Lodge became a commercial venture. The Lodge is the perfect retreat from urban sprawl.  Canoeing, rafting and tubing are available. Other activities include hiking and hayrides. On-ground activities available are the pool, hot tub, and tennis courts. The Lodge restaurant offers sit-down dining.  They're open year round.  Having dinner at the Lodge is a real treat when we have the opportunity.  You'll just love Jan and Junior Flowers, the new owners of the Lodge.
Riversedge Campground - For those of you who are looking for a campground that is very family oriented with quiet hours beginning at 11 pm, we highly recommend Riversedge.  They host trailrides periodically and have horse stalls for those of you who wish to bring a horse along on your trip.

Their mission is to “preserve, protect and enhance an environment
that is livable, healthful and sustainable through a comprehensive program
of education, citizen action and legal defense.” The Coalition promotes
clean air, clean water, a safe and healthy environment for Missouri’s families,
and responsible stewardship of Missouri’s land, natural resources and wildlife.

  National Forest Protection Alliance
The National Forest Protection Alliance (NFPA) was launched in 1999 by grassroots activists from every region of the United States dedicated to ending commercial logging on National Forests and all federal public lands. "We believe that public lands should be managed to provide clean air and clean water, wilderness and wildlife habitat, and compatible recreation for the American public."
